Free State parade to mark Homecoming

Firebird pride will be on display this afternoon, as Free State High School culminates a week of events with its Homecoming parade.

The parade begins at 2:45 p.m. at 15th and Wakarusa streets and proceeds to Sixth and Wakarusa streets. Student groups spent Thursday evening decorating floats, which will take over Wakarusa Street today.

A week of events, including a car bash, barbecue and powder-puff football, preceded the parade. Free State’s football team takes on Shawnee Mission East at 7 tonight at Haskell Stadium.
