AIDS Project to offer free HIV testing
Every Dec. 1, organizations worldwide work to raise awareness about AIDS and help fight the disease that kills about 33 million people a year globally.
Douglas County AIDS Project is one of those groups.
It will provide free, walk-in HIV testing from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec. 1 in the Kansas Union.
As part of World AIDS Day activities, the agency is distributing red pins that can be picked up at the office, 2518 Ridge Court, No. 101. Several community churches plan to help the cause by providing pins during services on Nov. 30.
On Dec. 4, DCAP staff and volunteers plan to distribute safe sex kits and condoms in downtown Lawrence.
The agency also offers free HIV testing by appointment and safe sex kits at its office. For more information, contact DCAP at 843-0040 or visit its Web site at www.douglascountyaidsproject.org.
