Not news?

To the editor:

“A dirty brown haze sometimes more than a mile thick is darkening skies, changing weather patterns around the world and threatening health and food supplies, the U.N. reported Thursday.”

Now that’s news worthy of any newspaper’s front page, don’t you think? Apparently the editor of our Journal-World doesn’t. Instead the story was buried after the classified ads, on the back page of Friday’s section C. Yes, that’s the “Art/Film/Music/Events” section. News of global meltdown on a scale threatening our species – presented as entertainment.

As we carelessly burn out our planet, the editor of our local newspaper bows his fiddle.
