Show respect

To the editor:

Where is the respect? I have been to several funerals in the last year, and Lawrence’s true colors really showed. What happened to pulling over to the side of the road to show your respect to the deceased and their families? There were only a few people who did this, and the ones that did not were rude. I have been to Arkansas and Oklahoma to several funerals in different cities. The people were so polite, even the younger generations, but not in Lawrence. Did the older generations forget to raise their children with respect, or does the younger generation just not care? I’m not only referring to the 18-25 year olds; I am also referring to 30-45 year olds. The funeral procession will last maybe five to six minutes. I have seen people get mad when the procession went through stoplights and they didn’t get to go. People would squeeze in just so they could get where they were going. Maybe the college and high schools need to have a course on respect and traditions.
