To the editor:

As a supervising judge for this and several past elections, I wish to give a special thanks to Jamie Shew, county clerk, and his staff for all of the work that went into making this election run as smoothly as it did. Jamie has a knack for anticipating where problems may arise and he is able to provide appropriate changes and help ahead of time.

Knowing the voter turnout would be high this election, he encouraged advanced voting with extended hours at the courthouse as well as satellite voting in the county. In addition to making sure that the machines are in place, working correctly, and assuring that there are enough ballots, he and his staff are always available to provide encouragement and assistance. He also recruited many new poll workers to help on Election Day and that required giving hours and hours of training sessions. I especially appreciate his informative instruction, positive attitude and his sense of humor.
