Class, no class

How they act after the election can reveal a lot about the winners and losers.

When Republican Scott Morgan conceded defeat to state Sen. Marci Francisco, D-Lawrence, Tuesday night, he said, “I wish her the best. It’s clear that she is doing a good job, and it’s what Lawrence wants. She has a tough job ahead of her, and we all hope she does well.”

That’s class.

When Republican Lynn Jenkins defeated Democratic U.S. Rep. Nancy Boyda, here is what Ken Spain, the press secretary of the National Republican Congressional Committee, said: “Nancy Boyda sealed her political fate when she turned her back and walked out on a military general. If that wasn’t enough she proceeded to break her promise not to raise taxes by subsequently voting for tax hikes over a dozen times. Despite the helping hand she received from the mainstream media, voters ultimately rejected Nancy Boyda because she was disinterested in representing Kansas values.”

That’s less than class.
