Baldwin City ? Police are continuing to investigate a one-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in Baldwin City that sent Tonya Chian, 31, Baldwin City, to a Kansas City area hospital via helicopter ambulance.

Officer Kim Springer said Monday morning that police have yet to determine how the accident occurred. She said Chian’s vehicle “hit multiple items, including a woodpile and tree.” She said investigators are trying to determine the path and speed of the vehicle by skid marks left at the scene.

“All of that is still under investigation,” said Springer.

The accident occurred at 4:36 p.m. near Midland Railway depot in west Baldwin. Springer said she didn’t know what hospital Chian was taken to or what her condition is.
