Dessert Nachos win in national contest
Gayle Hoopingarner, hospitality supervisor for Carlos O’Kelly’s Mexican Cafe in Lawrence, will have her specialty dish – Dessert Nachos – served up to Carlos O’Kelly’s customers throughout the company’s locations beginning today after winning an in-house cooking contest.
Hoopingarner’s dish is one of four from throughout the Wichita-based company’s locations to be named a winner in the chain’s 2008 Culinary Challenge, a national competition.
She received the Golden Skillet Award, along with an opportunity to be featured in the restaurants’ next advertising campaign. Hoopingarner also will be pictured on the specialty menu alongside her award-winning nachos.
