To the editor:

With the lowest approval ratings of any sitting president in modern history, Mr. Bush continues to make statements that prove the adage that it is far, far better to be thought a fool than to speak and prove it. However, he continues to talk and act as though he is determined to take what is left of the Republican Party with him when he leaves office.

His previous actions have already given the Democrats both houses of Congress. Now he seems determined to sweep away what remains of the party that brought him to office in the first place, even in the Deep South. Now that was really a shocker. So now we know that only a complete fool can lose the general election for president to any Republican candidate. So now all we can do is wait and see which one the Democrats pick.

I hope all the Democrats have their hopes so unreasonably high as this fellow. Reality is that this election will again come down to a few swing states like Missouri, Ohio, and Florida. McCain is not Bush, and while Bush's approval ratings are low, the dems' ratings aren't exactly high in comparison. Keep thinking this is a slam dunk though, and don't work hard on the campaign, and you'll see what will happen.

If McCain wins, a liberal will be in the White House.Don't let this recent move to the right fool you.McCain is a liberal and is pandering now just to get elected president as a republican.
