To the editor:

On behalf of all residents of the city of Lawrence who walk, ride bicycles, push strollers, use wheelchairs, or rollerblade, thanks to the city of Lawrence for the work you did to level out the sidewalk on the east side of Wakarusa Drive north of Clinton Parkway. The concrete sections above the storm drains had been markedly higher than the surrounding concrete, making it hazardous to use that part of the sidewalk.

During my Sunday morning walk down Wakarusa, I was pleasantly surprised to find the sidewalk very level. Good upkeep of our city’s sidewalks will encourage further use of them, helping Lawrence residents to save fuel, get more exercise and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
