Semitrailer driver treated after accident

A Pennsylvania woman was released from the hospital Tuesday after the semitrailer she was driving tipped over on Interstate 70 about 10 miles east of Lawrence.

According to a Kansas Turnpike Authority report, Jody Suzanne Pardo, 33, of Plymouth, Pa., lost control of the 2001 Freightliner semi at 9 a.m. while driving west.

The truck swerved into the northern ditch, back onto the road and struck the median wall, and then swerved back into the northern ditch, where it landed on its side. The aftermath of the wreck caused traffic delays on the turnpike as crews removed the truck.

Pardo was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Janice Early-Weas, an LMH spokeswoman, said Pardo was treated and released.
