Oread Inn to seek changes to plan

Bottom line

City commissioners are being asked to give approval to the closing of a road and some minor changes to construction plans for The Oread Inn, a seven-story hotel near 12th and Indiana streets.

Background

Developers are presenting a new plan that would close Indiana Street from 11th Street to 12th Street for much of the summer. The closure is needed, developers said, to give construction crews the necessary room to safely build an underground parking garage. The developers also are asking to vacate three feet of right of way for Indiana Street.

The vacation would allow the entire hotel to be shifted three feet farther to the west. The shift also is needed to accommodate the construction of the underground parking garage.

This isn't just a minor change-- they want to encroach 3 feet closer to Indiana St. with a building that is already going overwhelm everything around it. They fully intended to build this 3 feet further west from the beginning, but like everything on this project, they approached it with incremental additional requests because that makes it easier for this city commission to rubberstamp it.

I can't wait until the Oread Inn builders sue the crap out of user "cool" for cybersquatting the oreadinn.com web site name to redirect to Marion's crappy web site.

Flap Doodle 6 years, 7 months ago

BTW, that oreadinn website cool keeps plugging is part of a local stinking pit of a 'forum'.If you have a burning desire to see all of cool's posts from LJW repeated on another site, check it out. Using proxify dot com would be a good idea.

Cool,Have you ever designed a building that needed changes during construction? This seems pretty typical to me. I've never known of any project that was built that didn't need any modifications during construction.Thanks,KU_Dude

Sven/Cool can't make changes to a project once he's drawn it...crayon doesn't erase. And really, how much can you change a bird house anyway....right sven?

In a response to what is spot zoning:The city and the county allowed developers to leapfrog current boundaries to annex agricultural land 2.5 miles outside the city limits for industrial use, which is inconsistent with current zoning; why should anything different take place in the city?

Snap -Your 5/20/08, 11:42 am post is an all time classic! Thanks for keepin' it real! And, thanks for still enjoying your internet life...or whatever it is you say. Cool has gone over the edge this time - way over.

Marty_McFly 6 years, 7 months ago

Is it just me or does Cool keep posting the same things?

Flap Doodle 6 years, 7 months ago

cool's still plugging that misleading link to the local stinking pit of a 'forum'.

inatux 6 years, 7 months ago

The user cool sent the following message to you via LJWorld.com: =============================sorry tux / but the domain names that i have were registered and 'active' according to ICANN rules....thi sis not squatting - they are registered and active.=============================OK, and you purchased them after all this came into play. So, if they come to you and say "We'd like to purchase OreadInn.com," then you can't sell them for a penny over what you paid for them, otherwise, it's squatting.A first-year communication law student would have a field day with this. Oh, and if you send me an e-mail through LJWorld.com, please don't think it's private.

bangaranggerg 6 years, 7 months ago

Ordinance No. 8273, you suck. Three years they fight the Wal Mart and they'll mess up my neighborhood and everyday commute in 5 minutes, no thought.

Flap Doodle 6 years, 7 months ago

The website cool is plugging is part of a certain odious local 'forum' where you can see examples of juvenile personal attacks. If that's what you're all about, I'd recommend going through proxify dot com if you want to check it out. BTW, cool, do not keep emailing me.

inatux 6 years, 7 months ago

"You don't know very much about domain names, do you?"I know what a good lawyer can get. :)

hipper_than_hip 6 years, 7 months ago

once again cool, the neighborhood said time and time again that annexation of rural property 2.5 miles outside the city limits is leapfrog annexation, but the planning commission, and the city commission, and the county commission all ignored the voices of the neighborhood.Don't feel slighted that the various commissions don't listen to you: they don't listen to anyone except their campaign donors.

inatux 6 years, 7 months ago

Marion,Do you honestly think anyone where thinks you and "cool" are not the same person?

Flap Doodle 6 years, 7 months ago

cool, you're reposting your own posts from earlier in this thread? Take a break before your head explodes.

not_dolph 6 years, 7 months ago

cool - for all you know, I am Dolph. You will also note that LJW didn't boot warmer off. Hopefully when their servers become overloaded from your drivel, they'll boot you off - FOR GOOD!

Flap Doodle 6 years, 7 months ago

cool, you're whizzing in the wind by continuing to email me. You'll wear you little fingers right down to nubs & then you'll have to hold a pencil between your toes to key in the drivel you post here.

Flap Doodle 6 years, 7 months ago

For the third time today, stop emailing me, cool.

"What are compulsions?Obsessive thoughts make people who have OCD feel nervous and afraid. They try to get rid of these feelings by performing certain behaviors according to "rules" that they make up for themselves. These behaviors are called compulsions. (Compulsive behaviors are sometimes also called rituals.) For example, a person who has OCD may have obsessive thoughts about germs. Because of these thoughts, the person may wash his or her hands repeatedly after using a public toilet. The person may make repetitive posts on any story involving the Oread Inn. Performing these behaviors usually only makes the nervous feelings go away for a short time. When the fear and nervousness return, the person who has OCD repeats the routine all over again."http://familydoctor.org/online/famdocen/home/common/mentalhealth/anxiety/133.html

classclown 6 years, 7 months ago

HRC needs to be disbanded. Create a progress committee in it's place.

Jayhawker1 6 years, 7 months ago

I'm talking about Nancy Longhurst sven...read before you type...if you can.

Jayhawker1 6 years, 7 months ago

He's NOT hiding his ignorance! That's for sure!

classclown 6 years, 7 months ago

The entire block needs to be bulldozed and a strip mall put in there alongside the hotel.

classclown 6 years, 7 months ago

The hotel needs to be another ten stories taller. Hide some of that ugliness to the west of it.

not_dolph 6 years, 7 months ago

Nice to see you around here today IGW. I thought COOL was going to sue you today...isn't this Monday?
