Lawrence native up for music award

Sarah Buxton, a 1998 Lawrence High graduate, was nominated for the Academy of Country Music’s Top New Female Vocalist Award. The award ceremony airs tonight at 7 p.m. on CBS, Sunflower Broadband channels 5 and 13.

It’s been a busy year for Buxton, 27, who released her first EP, “Almost My Record,” was on tour and wrote the song “Stupid Boy,” which was covered by country star Keith Urban. The singer now lives in Nashville.
