LJWorld.com honored with EPpy award

The Journal-World’s Web site – LJWorld.com – has been singled out with an international award.

LJWorld.com won an EPpy Award on Thursday from Editor & Publisher and Mediaweek magazines at the annual Interactive Media Conference and Trade Show in Las Vegas.

The honor was for Best News Web Site with fewer than 1 million unique monthly visitors. Finalists for the honor were 3cat24.cat, HeraldTribune.com, LasVegasSun.com and Naplesnews.com.

EPpy Awards are some of the most prized and long-running honors for online content.

“We are again honored to receive recognition for our work,” said Dan Cox, president of Mediaphormedia. “We have a great deal of talent throughout the organization that works hard each and every day to produce a site that Lawrencians will use and appreciate. It is truly an honor to be recognized by industry colleagues for that work and of great satisfaction knowing we are helping other newspapers to improve their work in communities around the globe.”

A Journal-World sister publication’s Web site – ExploreSteamboat.com, published by Steamboat Pilot & Today in Steamboat Springs, Colo. – was a finalist for this year’s EPpy for Best Regional Magazine-Affiliated Web Site.

The Journal-World is owned by The World Company, and the company’s Web sites have won an EPpy each year since 2003. LJWorld.com earned the 2005 EPpy Award for the Best Internet News Service. It won the EPpy for Best News Site in 2003.
