Arts Center preschool looking for assistant

Lawrence Arts Center Arts Preschool is looking for a classroom assistant to interact with and assist children from 9:15 a.m. to 12:15 a.m. and from 12:45 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Immediate needs

¢ Lawrence Public Library needs volunteers ages 16 and older to help with the Youth Chautauqua Camp from June 18-22. Volunteers will assist campers with choosing, researching and creating a first-person presentation of a historical character.

¢ Centro Hispano Resource Center seeks volunteers to help with Sábados Culturales, a summer Latin American arts and culture program for youths in Lawrence.

The program will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays beginning June 7 and will include workshops on Latino arts, dance, culture and language. Volunteers do not need to speak Spanish. For more information, contact Lydia Leon at 843-2039 or

¢ Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community needs a volunteer bingo caller from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. May 20 and May 22. Contact Cindy Gustafson at 344-1113 for more information.

¢ Douglas County Senior Services needs senior health insurance counselors. Volunteers will go through three days of training to be able to assist with Medicare issues.
