Lawrence High’s girls soccer team defeated Free State High, 1-0, Monday evening in the first round of the Class 6A regionals at Youth Sports, Inc.

Lions freshman Marley Sutter broke through with the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute.

LHS improved to 8-9. Free State fell to 5-12.

The Lions, a No. 4 seed in the regional, will take on the Washburn Rural vs. Junction City winner at 6 p.m. Thursday at Washburn Rural.
