District retirees to be honored

Lawrence schools, the teachers association and the school district will honor dozens of retirees at several receptions this month.

The district and Lawrence Education Association Annual Recognition Reception for all retiring teachers, administrators and staff members will be 4 p.m.-5:30 p.m. Wednesday at district headquarters, 110 McDonald Drive.

School receptions currently scheduled:

¢ 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today at Free State High’s library.

¢ 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday at Langston Hughes School for Jane Buxton, a former teacher at Langston Hughes and current reading coach at Woodlawn.

¢ 4 p.m. Tuesday at Kennedy School.

¢ 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at East Heights Early Childhood and Family Center.

¢ 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Wakarusa Valley School gymnasium.

¢ 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 19 at Schwegler School gymnasium.

¢ 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 28 at the district’s Facilities and Operations Maintenance Shop, 146 Maine.

¢ 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. June 1 at Langston Hughes, to honor administrative assistant Sherry Banker.
