Advance voting opportunities remain

Lawrence school district and Lecompton voters have two more chances to advance vote before Tuesday’s election.

The Douglas County Clerk’s Office will be open 9 a.m. to noon today and 8 a.m. to noon Monday.

Elections deputy Keith Campbell said 547 people had cast advance ballots, either by mail or in person, by Friday evening. Of those, one was from a Lecompton voter for the city council and sales tax election there.

Lawrence school district voters on Tuesday will decide whether to give the school board the authority to increase its local option budget by 1 percent. Board members estimate the increase will raise $679,000.

Polls will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday. The clerk’s office is on the first floor of the Douglas County Courthouse, 1100 Mass.
