Panel to discuss teacher recruiting

A panel of educators and elected officials will discuss recruiting and retaining high-quality teachers during a forum at 7 p.m. Thursday. The forum is on the second floor of the Lawrence school district headquarters, 110 McDonald Drive.

The panelists will be state Rep. Paul Davis, D-Lawrence; John Mitchell, a Lawrence school board member; Carolyn Campbell, a member of the 2010 Commission; Mary Rodriguez, the Lawrence district's chief operations officer; Deena Burnett, a West Junior High English teacher; Barbara Thompson, a Quail Run sixth-grade teacher; and Lawrence Education Association representative Becky Nunn, a Cordley sixth-grade teacher.

The forum is sponsored by the Kansas Families for Education Foundation.
