Home-buying seminar set for Saturday

A Realtor, lender and financial counselor will conduct a how-to seminar for first-time homebuyers from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at the Lawrence Public Library, 707 Vt.
Crystal Swearingen, a Realtor with Realty Executives Hedges Real Estate, will discuss the duties and ethical responsibilities of buyer's agents, and the advantages of working with such an agent. She also will review eight steps for buying a home. Swearingen is a member of the Lawrence Board of Realtors and the Kansas Association of Realtors.
Bob Buchanan, of First National Mortgage Sources, will discuss credit reports and ways to improve credit, and explain what parties in a home sale do, how much they charge and who pays such fees. He also is a member of the Lawrence Board of Realtors and Kansas Association of Realtors.
Robert Baker, a counselor at Housing and Credit Counseling Inc. in Lawrence, will be available to answer individual questions.
Organizers emphasize that the seminar is for informational purposes, and that no sales will be solicited. It is free and open to the public.
