The Free State High baseball team will have to wait a couple of extra days to open the 2008 season.

The first pitch for the Firebirds originally was scheduled for 4 p.m. Thursday at home against K.C.-Washington, but the FSHS field is not ready. FSHS now will open the season at 4 p.m. Saturday against Washington at Eisenhower Park.

The Firebirds’ first home contest will be against Shawnee Mission West on April 10.
