To the editor:
St. Patrick's Day is Monday, and our local St. Patrick's Day Parade Committee deserves a round of applause for all its hard work and dedication to Lawrence's children's charities for the last 21 years. Not only does this organization put together a St. Pat's Parade every year, but they also spend several months before the parade raising money to donate to each year's chosen children's charities.
This year the County Fair Swim Club and the Social Service League of Lawrence were the selected charities. I operate the swimming pool. Since before the new year, I have had the privilege of working with this amazing group of people. The group hosts several social events around Lawrence to raise funds for the charities, the biggest event being an auction that, with the help and support of this community, is a huge success. Lawrence is full of loving, caring people who have helped me more than once in keeping a little community pool alive and kicking, and this group of people is no exception.
Please, on Monday, come downtown, bring your kids, enjoy a great parade and support the St. Patrick's Day Committee. As a member of this community, I would like to express my deep appreciation for what this organization and this city have accomplished. I am proud to have been a part of it.
Missi Pfeifer and the County Fair Swim Club volunteers,
Lawrence
