Phone service out to many county offices
Shortly after 5 p.m. Tuesday, phone lines to most Douglas County offices, the Douglas County sheriff’s main office and all District Court offices failed.
County Administrator Craig Weinaug said technicians were to arrive Tuesday night, and it was hoped the problem could be repaired by the start of business this morning.
Phone lines to the 911 Communication Center, the Lawrence Police Department, Douglas County Jail, the Juvenile Detention Center and the Douglas County Building and Zoning Office were not affected and are functioning normally.
Limited phone service to the sheriff’s office for urgent calls is available at 843-0250. Emergency calls should be placed to 911.
Residents who need to call the juror notification number for reporting instructions are advised that no jurors are needed today.
The county e-mail systems are working normally and are the preferred means of communication until phone service is restored.
The public will be advised when the telephone system is back in service.
