It’s time to change smoke alarm batteries

While you are changing your clocks Sunday for daylight saving time, be sure to change the batteries in smoke alarms.

That’s a reminder from Lawrence-Douglas County Fire & Medical, which recommended the time change as an excellent opportunity to ensure home safety.

The department suggests installing at least one smoke alarm in every sleeping area. The department said to test each alarm once a month, replace batteries at least twice a year and to clean them frequently.
