Inconsistencies

To the editor:

Watching Kansas University basketball games is a lot of fun. I’ve been following the KU players in the NBA and I appreciate the Journal-World printing in the newspaper the KU players in the NBA and how they’re doing.

It’s disappointing when KU loses a game. The players had been very good playing until the later part of the Big 12 Conference games. I observed that when they play with a team with a lot of energy running the floor, shooting the ball to the basket, the KU team seems to change their mood down low, that they miss a lot of balls to the basket, not getting treys and even missing some of the free throws.

When you’re not shooting the ball to the basket or fouling somebody, imagine how frustrated coach Bill Self gets. He can’t do much when the game is going on. He instructs the players what they are supposed to do. The best you can do is increase your determination to win.

What I don’t understand is fouling. Can you steal or block the ball without touching the person holding the ball?

I’m writing this just to know if you can be consistent in maintaining your energy and game plan from the start of the game to the finish. If you play like you did against Kansas State and Texas Tech in Allen Fieldhouse, there’s no doubt you’ll get through winning the Big 12 Conference, to the Final Four, even the championship.

Despite coach Bill Self’s frustration, when you lose, I’m sure he’s proud of his team.
