Bradley M. Oja, a Lawrence resident and certified orthotist for Performance Orthotics and Prosthetics Inc., recently completed an educational seminar offered through Innovative Neurotronics to become a credentialed practitioner of the WalkAide system.
The system is used to treat drop foot, a disorder that affects a person's ability to move a foot at the ankle. The system uses sensors to assess movement of the leg and foot, then provides electrical stimulation of muscles so that the foot can be lifted at the appropriate time.
Oja's office is at 1112 W. Sixth St.
