The Kansas Department of Commerce will accept nominations through 5 p.m. April 4 for its annual Kansas Business Appreciation Awards, which honor business contributions to the state.

The awards will be presented June 17, during the Kansas Cavalry Encampment in Topeka as part of a celebration of Kansas Business Appreciation Month. That's when one business will receive the state's top honor, the Governor's Award of Excellence.

Nominations may be submitted on behalf of any Kansas business. There are three categories - manufacturing/distribution; service; and retail - and each nominated business will be recognized at a Regional Business Appreciation Month Awards event. The regional events culminate June 17 with the Kansas Cavalry Encampment event.
