Kansas Public Radio promotes employee

Sheri Hamilton, external affairs director at Kansas Public Radio, has been named the operation’s new director of development.

Beginning Tuesday, Hamilton will oversee budgeting, promotions, public relations, sales and membership. She had been in charge of events and major-donor relations.

The development office brings in about $800,000 per year in membership contributions, underwriting sales and grants. Those funds cover about half of Kansas Public Radio’s total operating budget.

“I look forward to raising the necessary funds to keep KPR and its high-quality services available to an ever-growing number of people,” Hamilton said.

Hamilton has been with Kansas Public Radio since 1997. She has held posts as KANU/ KPR membership director, underwriting sales representative and external affairs director.
