Hungry children

To the editor:

I just wanted to comment on the “Operation Breakthrough” to feed the children of Kansas City June 26. I listened to several Kansas City radio stations such as 94.9 KCMO and 101 The Fox that devoted the entire day raising money to feed the hungry children of KC.

Many celebrities and others donated their time and effort in this worthy cause. Coach Mangino donated an autographed football and Coach Self, an autographed basketball. It was very refreshing to hear so many listeners donate and to see so many generous and unselfish people even though money is tight and many struggle to make ends meet.

But isn’t it a sad commentary on the shape of this country when our government can spend a trillion dollars in Iraq as needy children in this country go to bed hungry? Is it just me, or is this just wrong?
