Iowa Street road work begins south of 23rd Street
City contractors started work today on a repaving project along Iowa Street, south of 23rd Street.
A city spokeswoman said drivers can expect delays and reduced lanes, as Iowa Street is repaved from 23rd Street to 31st Street. Iowa Street was reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction during the lunch hour today.
This week, construction crews will scrape off the top layer of pavement. Then, contractors will place new pavement and striping on the road. The project is expected to be finished in early August.
“If people have an alternative route to use, they should do that,” said Lisa Patterson, city spokeswoman.
