To the editor:

As a baseball fanatic, I would like to express my gratitude to Free State High School baseball coach Mike Hill and his staff. They have developed a baseball program with class, and players with grace and poise. And for the last three years, the Free State Firebirds have been the best high school team in Kansas baseball. Hill and company became the standard of baseball excellence. The Firebirds were the team everyone feared. They were the team to beat. Players who beat the Firebirds will remember it as a great achievement for years to come.

I would also like to thank the players. They are truly great players, who made watching their games a genuine pleasure. Baseball, the way they played it most of the time, was a thing of great beauty. I will fondly remember these last three years for the rest of my life. So will many others.
