Boat catches fire on Clinton Lake

Fire destroyed a boat on Clinton Lake on Sunday afternoon but caused no injuries, said Aaron Henrichs, a Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks officer.

The 22-foot Crownline was in the Rock Creek area about a half-mile from the beach when it became disabled and would not start, Henrichs said. The boat’s owner called the marina for assistance and was getting help when the fire started. The flames forced the two people working on the boat overboard. Others who had been on the boat were already in the water lounging, Henrichs said. The incident occurred about 2:30 p.m.

The group was picked up by other boaters, he said. There were no injuries.
