Navy: Pilot killed in jet collision

? The Navy says a pilot involved in the collision of two Navy jets over northern Nevada’s high desert during a training mission is dead.

The jets collided shortly after noon on Friday about 50 miles east of the Fallon Naval Air Station, where they were based.

Two pilots safely ejected from an F-5 Tiger and were rescued. But base spokesman Colonel Jeffrey Wells said Friday evening that the pilot of an F/A-18C Hornet was killed.

The two other pilots are being treated for minor injuries at a hospital in Fallon.

The Navy did not identify any of the pilots.
