Several blood drives planned

The Community Blood Center will host a blood drive to benefit hospital patients in Douglas County.

According to the Community Blood Center, last year 28,000 individuals in the region needed a blood transfusion. The year, the local needs are expected to rise. The center must collect at least 580 pints of blood daily to meet the needs of the area.

A blood drive will be hosted by the Lecompton community. From 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. June 20 people can visit Lecompton United Methodist Church’s Fellowship Hall, 402 Elmore, to make a blood donation.
