Cromwell Environmental, an environmental firm focusing on indoor air quality and renewable energy, has relocated its office to Lawrence from Kansas City, Mo.

The company, founded in 1982 as Ramsey Environmental, has been owned since 2000 by Lawrence residents Aron and Hannah Cromwell, who decided to move operations to 825 Vt. suite B.

Gasoline costs of more than $4 a gallon had something to do with it.

“We calculated that by moving the office to Lawrence we could save enough in gas to pay for our lease – even if our old building sat vacant,” Hannah Cromwell said. “We ended up being lucky and our old building sold just when we wanted it to.”

The move brings five jobs to Lawrence residents.

Cromwell Environmental has worked in all 50 states, performing more than 10,000 air-quality inspections and more than 2,000 mold remediations.
