Physician serves on advisory group

Dr. Gregory Schnose, Lawrence, is serving on the Medical Advisory Committee of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas.

The Topeka-based company’s Board of Directors appointed Schnose to a two-year term on the committee, composed of 19 health care professionals who advise the company on issues relevant to their areas of expertise.

Committee members give contracting providers a voice as the company develops policies and procedures that affect them and their patients, said Fred Palenske, vice president of provider relations and medical affairs. Members also help the company stay current on treatment options.

Schnose specializes in internal medicine and has worked in the medical profession for 28 years. He earned his bachelor’s and medical degrees from Kansas University, and is part of the medical staff at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. He is a member of the American College of Physicians and the American Medical Association.

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas is the state’s largest health insurer.
