KU supply technician wins national award

A Kansas University supply technician recently received the U.S. Army Cadet Command Incentive Award for excellence for the second time.

Cindy R. Brinkley, a retired Army staff sergeant, was named Cadet Command’s Supply Technician of the Year for 2008. She also received the honor in 2005, and was runner-up in 2007.

Brinkley became supply technician for KU’s Army ROTC program in March 2003, and since then earned the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command’s Command Supply Excellence Award in 2005.

While on active duty, Brinkley received two Meritorious Service Medals, two Army Commendation Medals, four Army Achievement Medals and five Good Conduct Medals. Her service included a posting at Fort Riley.

Cadet Command is the parent organization of the Army ROTC program and presents awards annually to recognize top performers nationwide. Army ROTC units are at 273 colleges and universities throughout the country.
