Suspect in stabbing will stand trial

A Lawrence man accused of stabbing a homeless man will stand trial on a charge of attempted second-degree murder.
Douglas County District Judge Robert Fairchild on Thursday ruled Adam Mallamo, 19, is competent to stand trial. The judge scheduled a jury trial for Aug. 27.
Mallamo is accused of stabbing a man in the chest with a knife last month at the Lawrence Community Shelter.
