Students win awards for research abroad

A Lawrence doctoral student at Kansas University won a Fulbright U.S. Student Program award to study abroad.

Cameron Siler received the Fulbright-Hays Doctoral Dissertation Research Abroad Program grant to conduct research and outreach in the Philippines, KU announced Wednesday.

She was among six KU students who won prestigious Fulbright awards or David L. Boren Graduate Fellowships for study and research abroad for the 2008-09 academic year.

The other students were Kelly Knickmeier Cummings, Topeka; Agata Kaminska, Chicago; Madeline Rislow, Lewiston, Minn.; Matthew Stein, St. Charles, Minn.; and Julie Ward, Ponca City, Okla.
