Driver arrested for targeting pedestrians

A 23-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly attempting to run over two pedestrians with a stolen car.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Mark Warren said the two pedestrians were walking near the intersection of 24th and Iowa streets when the man inexplicably aimed the vehicle at them and attempted to hit them. He also threatened the pedestrians verbally.

Warren said the vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Caliber, was reported stolen earlier in the day from the Lawrence Community Shelter, 214 W. 10th St.
