A 23-year-old Lawrence man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after allegedly attempting to run over two pedestrians with a stolen car.

Lawrence Police Sgt. Mark Warren said the two pedestrians were walking near the intersection of 24th and Iowa streets when the man inexplicably aimed the vehicle at them and attempted to hit them. He also threatened the pedestrians verbally.

Warren said the vehicle, a 2007 Dodge Caliber, was reported stolen earlier in the day from the Lawrence Community Shelter, 214 W. 10th St.

Clown, you are comparing a citizen's right to a state sanctioned priviledge.Remove the right to bear arms from the constitution and you may have an argument.Or add car ownership.Either way.Still apples and oranges..So Bleah!HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!(walks away but bends over to ties his shoes enroute)

Why they oughta ban all those video games! It's all of them! And while they're at it, fix the internet. And get rid of computers. Silly things never work anyways. ...Hey, wait a minute....

Will this mean that some knee jerk rigid car control laws are in our future? What new stringent rules will be placed on legal car owners to make sure that their cars can never end up in the wrong hands? Will the safety of pedestrians issue be used by those that are anti car be used to institute a ban on car ownership all together or make it as difficult as possible for law abiding citizens to own a car? Will the legal car owners be forced to form the National Car Association (NCA) to fight against government intrusion and erosion of their rights? When they outlaw cars, only outlaws will have cars. They can have my car when they pry the steering wheel from my dead cold fingers.

classclown (Anonymous) says: "What new stringent rules will be placed on legal car owners to make sure that their cars can never end up in the wrong hands?"Maybe not in the future, but in the past. When I was younger, the law in the state where I grew up said that the owner of a vehicle was responsible for damages caused by that vehicle even if the car was stolen.

I would go with a vulcan cannon personally. It comes with a radar and self-acquires the targets. No aiming. I think the transmitter seeking attenna is optional, for people driving in the left hand lane and talking on the cell phone.

Autie, just wait... Only 2 1/2 months until the students come back to town. Oh well, gives the patrolmen something to do.

srj (Anonymous) says:Oh good, I can be the first to ask, who would anyone park there 1-2 year old car close or at the shelter?-----------Maybe it belongs to one the homeless people. This reminds me of the millionaire in San Jose, CA who begs on one of the highways back in 2001.

I have often wanted to mount a 50 cal machine gun on a turrett on top of my car with a lazer marker. And see how many stoopid people I can eliminate in can we add, the thuggy-thuggy-bump-bump loud stereo cars to that list for autoacquired targets? one car equipped this way on the road could really clean up this town!
