Giveaway weekend?
To the editor:
As I read Monday’s article on “Dumpster diving,” a thought occurred. Why not make the last weekend in July, an annual citywide “set anything useful but not wanted out at the curb to be given away free” weekend. (Call it Free Giveaway Weekend.) This would eliminate the dangerous and unlawful elements referred to in the article. Anything not taken could then be picked up in the regular garbage collections. A great way to recycle and less stuff going to the landfill. A win-win situation!
