Douglas County Fair 2008
Livestock, a world of entries, a carnival and a demolition derby - see the sights and hear the sounds of the 2008 Douglas County Fair.
With entries judged and some preliminary events under its belt, the Douglas County Fair kicks off in earnest Wednesday.
Whether it's carnival rides, animals or other entertainment you're after, the fair provides a family atmosphere - even if it is a bit warm out.
Here are some of the highlights of the fair's remaining events:
Wednesday
¢ 10 a.m.-10 p.m.: Buildings open to the public.
¢ 1 p.m.-10 p.m.: Food sale.
¢ 4 p.m.-10 p.m.: Petting zoo.
¢ 6 p.m.-11 p.m.: Pony rides.
¢ 6 p.m.: Carnival opens.
¢ 6 p.m.: Naturally Nutritious Food Festival.
¢ 7 p.m.: Concert by Cubby Lane and the Secrets.
¢ 7 p.m.: Tractor pull.
Thursday
¢ 8 a.m.: Dairy goat milking contest.
¢ 1 p.m.-10 p.m.: Petting zoo, pony rides.
¢ 1 p.m.: Bucket calf show.
¢ 6 p.m.-11 p.m.: Carnival rides.
¢ 6 p.m.: Antique tractor pull.
¢ 6:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m.: Square dancing exhibition by Happy Times Squares.
¢ 6:30 p.m.: Backseat Drivers Competition.
¢ 8 p.m.: Dairy goat milking contest.
¢ 8 p.m.: Concert by Ricochet.
¢ 8:30 p.m.: Movie night.
Friday
¢ 1 p.m.-10 p.m.: Petting zoo.
¢ 4 p.m.-10 p.m: Pony rides.
¢ 6 p.m.: Bale throwing contest.
¢ 6 p.m.-midnight: Carnival rides.
¢ 7:30 p.m.: Demolition derby.
Saturday
¢ 11 a.m.: Turtle race.
¢ 1 p.m.-5 p.m.: Petting zoo and pony rides.
¢ 1 p.m.: Pedal tractor pull competition.
¢ 5:30 p.m.: Llama show.
¢ 6 p.m.: 4-H award ceremony.
¢ 7 p.m.-10 p.m.: Carnival rides.
¢ 7 p.m.: Hot rod tractor and truck pull.
¢ 7 p.m.: Concert by Jolly Rogers.
Sunday
¢ 3 p.m.: 4-H livestock auction.
