How to look like you didn’t just bike to work (when really you did)

¢ Breathable clothing. Ten-year bike commuter Brendan Lynch suggests that men wear moisture-wicking golf shirts to avoid looking like a sweatball or a slob.

¢ A change of clothes. If you don’t have any moisture-wicking clothing, bring a change of clothes or at least a shirt, says Brian Shay, owner of the Re-Cyclery, 2301 La.

¢ Buy a bag or rack. Having a commuter-friendly bag and/or bicycle rack can make taking your possessions with you a breeze.

¢ Cornstarch, baby wipes, deodorant – to help you feel “fresh.”

¢ If practical, a short haircut. Lynch says he keeps his hair short to avoid “helmet head.” Though, Adam Hess, manager of Sunflower Outdoor & Bike Shop, 802 Mass, says he likes the look: “I would think that helmet head is almost a badge of pride.”
