Area residents are invited to watch students from Lawrence’s sister city of Hiratsuka perform traditional Japanese dances at an event on Tuesday.

The celebration is part of the annual student exchange between Lawrence and Hiratsuka. Junior and senior students from Hiratsuka arrived in Lawrence on July 22, and have been staying with host families and participating in a variety of activities.

The dance – which will feature students in traditional Japanese dress – will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday at South Junior High, 2734 La.

This summer marks the 18th time that Lawrence has hosted a student delegation from Hiratsuka.
