Voters will get an opportunity to question candidates for Douglas County Commission during a forum next week at the Dole Institute of Politics.
The forum, organized by the Voter Education Coalition, is set for 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the institute, 2350 Petefish Drive on Kansas University's West Campus.
Answering questions from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. will be candidates for the commission's 2nd District: Ken Adkinson and Nancy Thellman, Democrats; and David Brown and Grant Eichhorn, Republicans.
The district covers North Lawrence and much of southeast Lawrence and southeastern Douglas County, including Eudora and Baldwin City.
From 8 p.m. to 9 p.m., candidates for the 3rd district will take questions: Ken Grotewiel and Clenece Hills, Democrats; and Jim Flory and John Tacha, Republicans. The district covers southwest Lawrence, much of northwest Lawrence and the rest of western Douglas County, including Lecompton.
Winners in the Aug. 5 primary will be on the ballot for the Nov. 4 general election.
While voter registration is closed for the primary, members of the League of Women Voters will be at the forum to register people to vote in November.
