Travel writer wins regional awards

Susan Kraus, a freelance travel writer who lives in Lawrence, won several writing awards at the 2008 Society of American Travel Writers, Central States Chapter conference.

Kraus won the Henry and Vera Bradshaw Memorial Award for overall writing. She also won three awards for work that appeared in products of The World Company, Lawrence:

¢ First place in the United States/Canada Destination category for a travel article on Montreal that appeared in the Spring 2007 edition of Lawrence Magazine.

¢ Second place for best travel commentary, in the Newspaper, Magazine or Website category, for a commentary on Baden-Baden that appeared online at Boomergirl.com in October 2007.

¢ Third place in the International Travel category for an article on Chile that appeared in the Winter 2007 edition of Lawrence Magazine.

The society’s chapter includes travel writers, photographers and editors in Kansas and 19 other states.
