Members of the Big 12 Conference media have spoken, and their consensus is that fans can expect a Missouri-Oklahoma showdown in the conference's 2008 football title game.

In a poll of 51 conference media members released Wednesday, Missouri was a unanimous choice to repeat as North division champion, while Oklahoma was tapped as the favorite in the South.

Kansas, following a 12-1 season that included the school's first BCS bowl victory, was picked to finish second in the North, followed by Nebraska, Colorado, Kansas State and Iowa State.

Oklahoma received 49 first-place votes to finish ahead of rival Texas as favorite in the South.

The Longhorns were projected as the division's No. 2 team, followed by Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Texas A&M and Baylor.

Last season's Big 12 media poll projected a fourth-place finish in the North for the Jayhawks, who wound up going 7-1 in conference play and finishing as runners-up in the North behind Missouri.

The 2008 Big 12 Championship will be held at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Dec. 6 and will be televised nationally on ABC.

Big Red won't be back this year--I'd guess about a .500 record. Their defense was horrible last season, and I don't expect it to be a lot better this year.

Kansas was a fluke last year.....GBR!

Trobs 6 years, 5 months ago

Not a fluke at all. It's called progress.

I would love to see a re-mach Kansas vs Missouri with the Big XII North on the line. How about having a perfect home record again and lets pull out those RED Jerseys for TEXAS.....

If it comes down to a single game again very likely. I don't know that KU and Mizzou can both have great seasons again. KU lost our main halfback and that is going to hurt. Mizzou proved in the Oklahoma games if the going gets tough, they stop trying. We'll see. I'm looking forward to the start of the season.

we have a tougher schedule this year, but Mangino could pull it off. We have a new football training facility, and while I'm not a fan of where it is or the disruptions it caused to that area of campus, it will help us get some good talent on our team. I hear our defensive line this year will be intense.

Swap Colorado and Nebraska, otherwise looks good.

We could be like MU fans and determine the seasons success on one game.

Trobs, yes we will miss BMac, but he was not a typical halfback. He was more of a fullback that was asked to be a halfback. I think a lot of people will be surprised by the RBs this coming year. Jake Sharp, J Crawford, Quigley and CBA could all have a great season.

yep agreed dweezil. LOL @ Nerdbraska 3rd. CU will wax them, and be ahead of them in the standings. I'm glad we have CU @ home this yr.

I don't know if it will even come down to a single game. We have a tougher schedule this year.

9-3 and another warm weather bowl. Just kill KSU, NU and beat MU. Other than that, HCMM, piece of cake. No pressure. None at all...Right...
