Industrial park discussion rescheduled

Plans for a new industrial park along the Farmers Turnpike were not debated by city commissioners Tuesday night after all.

Commissioner Mike Amyx had to leave Tuesday’s meeting because he began to feel ill, which led commissioners to defer the hot-button topic.

Neighbors in the area had filed a petition protesting the proposed rezoning of 155 acres just north of the Lecompton interchange on the Kansas Turnpike. The petition meant four of the five commissioners were needed to approve the rezoning.

The project tentatively is scheduled to be heard by commissioners Aug. 5.
