Law enforcement report

¢ Lawrence police are investigating the Sunday night beating of a 44-year-old man in the parking lot of Rick’s Place, 846 Ill. The man told officers he was approached about 10:30 p.m. by two men who asked him for money. He gave them $5. They beat him and took his wallet, the victim told police. He suffered a cut to his head.

¢ Shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday, two men beat a 72-year-old male transient and took a can of beer from his backpack. The victim told Lawrence police he was walking with his bicycle along a sidewalk on the south side of the Kansas River bridge when the men approached him.

¢ A 25-year-old woman called Lawrence police about 7:45 p.m. Sunday after she saw a man she didn’t know looking at her through the window of her residence in the 1500 block of Tennessee Street. The woman said she’d been sleeping on her couch. The man ran north. Police searched the area but didn’t find him. The man was white and was wearing a blue shirt and blue baseball cap.

Burglaries and thefts

¢ A 58-year-old Lawrence woman told Lawrence police on July 2 that she was a victim of identity theft. Losses were listed at $5,408.

¢ A total of $1,467 was taken from a 61-year-old Lawrence woman, a result of unlawful use of a financial card. The money was taken from June 29 through July 2, according to a Lawrence police report.

¢ A 23-year-old Lawrence woman told Lawrence police someone struck her with a blunt object. The incident occurred the night of June 28 in the 3300 block of Iowa Street.

¢ The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a 1986 Harley Davidson Road King custom motorcycle. A 48-year-old Shawnee man reported the motorcycle stolen on Sunday after his truck sustained a flat tire while driving on Kansas Highway 32 in Linwood. The man stopped near 189th Street and walked to Linwood where he used a pay phone to call for help. When he returned to his vehicle, the motorcycle, which was being transported on a trailer, was gone. The man said he had spent two years customizing the bike, which is valued between $30,000 and $40,000. The motorcycle is black, with flames painted on the gas tank.
