Illegal but fun

To the editor:

One of the greatest things I’ve ever seen happened Friday night. It was the equivalent of the Boston Tea Party. I was in the front yard with the kids setting off sparklers when, in the vacant lots west of Wakarusa Drive and north of Bob Billings Parkway, professional-grade fireworks erupted into the air and lasted for a couple of hours, which means that the police did not stop them. It was all the more fun because it was illegal.

Something is changing. Maybe people are tired of being told what not to do and doing what they are told to do. At any rate, I take my hats off to them, including the police, and I hope they do it again next year.
